The whole "AlienOcean" enterprise started off around five years ago when we were out cycling and my son and my wife used to leave me at the bottom of the hill to walk up (too much beer and crisps!) so I decided that I either get fitter or take the petrolhead easy way out. I got on the net and found a company in China who could sell me motors and another one which had controllers and yet another one which had a throttle etc. I imported a sample of each and modified my Claud Butler.
One night I was out on the bike when a guy in the full lycra suit comes belting down the hill towards me, goes around the roundabout (they used that stretch for training), looks across at the fat, old, (not to mention nearly bald) guy on his bike and starts hammering up the hill again. I decided to give the motor a bit of throttle and halfway up the hill he must have realised something was up because he glances round, sees me keeping up with him and just about falls off his bike!! I nearly ended myself there and then!
I then decided that other people might like to be able to do that as well and the rest is history.
The Company
AlienOcean are now one of the longest established independent electric bicycle and e-bike kit sellers in the U.K. and operate out of a 5000 sq ft warehouse and distribution centre in central Scotland. We've now sold well over three thousand bikes and kits and know what the drawbacks are in many electric bikes; weight, battery technology, quality issues etc and although, in the past we imported either components or complete standard bikes, we now fully design and specify all but two of our models.
Above all things, we try and treat all customers (and it's difficult sometimes!) exactly how we would expect to be treated ourselves. We would only ask that, if you are a potential customer, that you show us the same courtesy and consideration - we are trying our best.
The video above isn't, of course, me because that guy's much thinner for a start! However, I thought that the video pretty much summed up what having an electric bike is all about. The only differences between the bike in the video and an AlienOcean version is that we can provide a solution from a 250w road legal bike or kit all the way up to 30+ mph "off road only".
Also, you can just use the throttle on all the AlienOcean bikes or kits from a standing start so it's a lot easier if you have any leg or back problems! Oh, by the way, our solutions are a lot cheaper then the one in the video as well!
